Lawrence Speck
Lawrence Speck creates and performs remarkable storytelling theatre for children and their families.
He has toured nationally and internationally with companies such as The Paper Birds and Blind Summit, Pif-Paf Theatre Company, Reckless Invention and Mark Mark Productions. He has performed in theatres, site specific spaces and street theatre, in a variety of roles.
The idea for his current shows, The Boggle and Shapeshifter, emerged when he was working as a teacher. Surprised by the lack of English folklore on the curriculum, he decided to research into the myths and legends from the areas around where he lived. He was amazed by the stories he found, some of which have now ended up in the shows.
Lawrence’s work is funny, physical and incorporates clown, storytelling, puppetry and specially composed music.
He first worked with producer Dick Bonham while he was still at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds, running the Emerge programme, which supported the development of The Boggle. When Dick left to help form LittleMighty, both of them were delighted to carry on their working relationship.

“The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Everyone was completely fascinated with the storytelling, use of props and the brilliant acting.”
